Loading a carrier means attaching the materials to the carrier on a loading station. This is the mandatory first operation in every production route.
There are many types of carriers, depending on type of articles and/or components it is supposed to hold.
Basic Loading Procedure
- Follow the normal steps from the Basic Use guide.
- When an empty carrier enters the work position, the terminal will say "Enter Order #".
- Operator should enter the order number and order line number on terminal.
Loads order to the carrier in working position
The quantity of the carrier will be set to the default of the loaded article.
orderNumber Order Number
orderLineNumber Order Line Number
- If the command was successful the operator can now attach the materials to the carrier
- When all materials are attached, the operator pushes the switch
- If the carrier was successfully routed to the next operation, it will leave the working position and the next carrier will come down
Tips
💡 Check the Troubleshooting Guide for common issues that may happen when loading a product.
💡 The station option Keep Last Loading Command will remember the previously loaded order line and automatically load the next carrier with the same.
Examples of Alternative Loading Procedures
- Using a hand scanner: instead of pressing keys on the terminal to enter order number and order line number a hand scanner is used to scan a barcode or QR code
- This is most useful when the order quantities are small and the order needs to be manually input often.
- Using a automatic loader: instead of manually loading components into the carrier an automatic loader with clamp opener can be used. The carrier is opened and when the operator pushes a component into the loader it is automatically moved forward and into the clamps
- This is useful when components are very heavy or there are safety issues with manually loading
- Using an integration with an external system: order information is imported into Eton and presented on the terminal while loading. The operator needs only to handle manual loading and pressing the operator switch
